Ash ~ Tattoo Apprentice ~ Downtown
Hi there, my name is Ash (they/ them). I moved to Madison in 2019 from the Bay Area of California. My professional artist practice for the past decade has been focused in fine art printmaking. My conceptual work focuses on queer futurity and our infinite potential which translates as two and three dimensional folded screenprints and lithographs. I received my BFA from UC Santa Cruz in 2011, and concluded a two year apprenticeship at Tamarind Institute for Fine Art Lithography receiving the title of Tamarind Master Printer in 2017. I am also a prospective 2022 MFA candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I am interested in bringing my knowledge of printmaking techniques to develop my own unique tattooing style. I pull inspiration for my work from botanical illustrations, wildlife & marine biology, etchings, lithographs, woodcut prints, typography and traditional tattoos. I’m stoked to create designs that span the intimate and meaningful to the irreverently funny. I aim to create a communicative and safe experience for each of my clients as well as treat each person with dignity and respect. I am honored at the opportunity to connect with you as an individual and share my work. All styles are welcome!
